Kdrama

The Korean actors/actresses baffles me. Their ability to cry on cue is amazing. I am currently watching Stars Falling from the Sky via Netflix and love it. The story line is sweet and though typical of Kdrama with its one-girl-two guys-love-triangle-with-a-second-girl-making-trouble, I love the family bond this drama emphasizes.

On another note, I had a good day at work today! My client offered me a position at his company! With no background knowledge or resume needed, he offered me a job! He said he will be needing a managerial personnel in a close future and if I was interested, he will come back to tell me. Pretty cool yo! What an awesome compliment! Life is very strange.

GIANTS WORLD SERIES 2012!!!! I love my city! I may not be into sports, but I cannot deny the intensity when the Giants win! The lively energy is palpable.

life is what you make it. =)

within the 6 months time span, I have gotten two jobs, gotten my own car (by myself I should add) and improved both skills in floral design and hair styling. Its one thing to wish and plan, but another to actually do it.

Happy Forth of July!

Happy Birthday Meuy, Jenny and America!! Hope everyone is having a grand time of their lives! I wish I could have seen the fireworks but there is just too much mess in my life that prevented me from going. Dad isn't feeling up to par and will need to go back to the hospital soon. We are holding off and hoping he gets better soon because staying in the hospital is so draining for all of us.

Anyway, the Filmore Jazz Festival/ July 4th celebration festival is this weekend, July 7th and 8th! I believe this is the best festival of San Francisco, hopefully I can make it too..

Horrible week

Omg, for the past 8 days my dad was hospitalized so mum and I stayed by his bedside whenever we could. Let me tell you this, nurses work so hard! They do so much dirty work that I wouldn't be paid enough to do! Wiping patient's posteriors, cleaning up diarrhea, vomit and other bodily excretion. Inserting catheters, and in general, just caring for the ill, wounded and mentally unstable is just so stressful! I spent 6 days sleeping inside the hospital room watching over my dad because he was doped up on lots of pain medicines and it was the most exhausting thing ever. After 6 days, my body failed me and I became sick myself from all the stress and lack of sleep (4 hours a day if I was lucky). My dad would wake up at random times and try to get up or remove his IV needles because he was so heavily medicated after his surgery that he was confused and felt no pain of his actions! He made the process of healing so much more slower than it had to be. Then again, my dad is 74 years old, not a young buck.

Well, my dad may be coming home tomorrow! Fingers crossed! My little dog, Andre has been under Lo's care. I sure miss my little munchkin! I wonder how much bigger he's gotten since Lo's family feeds him alot.

Back to what I was saying, thank you nurses! Your hard work, compassion and knowledge is recognized!

Recommendation for Cosmetology Students: Walh Clipper and trimmer

Looking for the right clipper and trimmer can be overwhelming for students of Cosmetology. Which is the best brand, long lasting and best for its pricing? I went through this myself. The best brand is Oster, but their prices may be too high for students. So, I recommend getting the Walh Designer and Peanut trimmer as a starter for practice then buy the more expensive ones when you feel ready. They work really well and do not require the daily maintenance like an Oster would. Though, I highly suggest caring for them just the same. Price may range, depending on your location, but it should be around $50 for each. Both should include their own guard sizes. The best thing about Walh clippers are their guard sizes, which are commonly used on the floor.

Designer
Peanut

The Designer allows you to adjust the blade up and down to half a gauge. So a 1guard becomes a 1.5guard. The top Oster clippers do not have that option, which is why my recommendation is best for those just starting. After some usage, you will notice that make louder hmms than other clippers. This is not a problem. Maintaining any clipper and trimmer requires regular cleaning (for every 20-30 clients). This is your money making tool so take care of it. Use a screw driver to remove the screws and have a brush ready to gently remove hairs between the blades and insides. If you happen to adjust the blades too tightly, the blades will create an extremely loud ring when turned on. Not to fear, just take your trusty screw driver and loosen the screw while your clipper is still on until you hear no more ringing (located on the side) and that should resolve the problem. Make sure to oil your blades after each client to ensure lubrication for longer lasting quality.

As for the Peanut, after each client, make sure to remove the blade and brush the hairs out to prevent clogging of tool and add a drop of oil to the blade after each client.

If you have any questions of maintenance of these tools, post on the comment or just ask your instructors.

Been a while

Hi folks,

Life has been a bit hectic for me since my last posting. However, I will try to be more active by posting daily. Like the new look? Since starting this blog, it has undergone five skins. It is a darn shame that I didn't save the past looks to compare with. There is finally music too! YAY!

This was what I wanted, but the blog posts were not divided so I decided to keep the current one
My newest goal is to one day sky dive! I am afraid of heights, but I have only one life and I want to live to the fullest

Andrea Bocelli- Con Te Partiro

Con Te Partiro

This song never fails to give me the chills. It is so beautifully sung. It makes a great wedding song =).

"When I'm alone I dream on the horizon and words fail; yes,
I know there is no light in a room where the sun is absent, if you are not with me.
At the windows show everyone my heart which you set alight; enclose within me the light you encountered on the street.
I'll go with you, to countries I never saw and shared with you now, yes, I shall experience them.
I'll go with you on ships across seas which, I know no, no ,exist no longer; with you I shall experience them.
When you are far away I dream on the horizon and words fail, and, yes, I know that you are with me; you, my moon, are here with me, my sun, you are here with me.
I'll go with you to countries I never saw and shared with you, now, yes, I shall experience them.
I'll go with you on ships across seas which, I know, no, no, exist no longer; with you I shall experience them again.
I'll go with you on ships across the seas which, I know, no, no, exist no longer; with you I shall experience them again. I'll go with you, I with you."

Movie recommendation: The Five-Year Engagement

 The Five-Year Engagement

I highly recommend watching this film! The entire movie was HILARIOUS! Sure, the jokes were crude and blunt, but it works. Jason Segel did a fine job with the character of Tom. Emily Blunt was also a fine Violet. The two characters together lacked chemistry to me. They played their part well, but as a couple, they weren't very convincing. Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan made a better couple in the tv sitcom How I Met Your Mother. My friend and I went to see a preshowing of this movie. It comes out on April 27th 2012.

My friend and I were both apprehensive coming into this movie. We both trusted that Jason Segel would do a bang up job and that held true. The movie took place in San Francisco! As a native, it was very fun to see familiar places in the movie. As the movie progressed, my major peeve was the couple sitting next to me making side comments during the entire show! Another movie watcher had to shush them!

Trust, this movie is worth seeing. Come happy, leave happy.

Be the change; spread good around

Michael Jackson- Man in the Mirror

This song speaks truth and inspires me. I miss Michael Jackson's artistry and passion to help better the world. We need more singers like him to help influence the younger generation with inspiring songs. What is with the Katy Perry's song ET? Its catchy, but so shameful. The lyrics are disturbing and abusive. Yet, it is popular now.

OMGG How did I just found out about Ronan Keating???

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Been so busy lately. Starting tomorrow, I will be working 7 days a week. I got both jobs! =) Busy busy life now. Gosh, I miss Lo! I will only see him during weekends, but for a few hours..

To award myself for landing two jobs, I have spent $400 on shoes and clothing within the last 18 hours. Using money I do not have at the moment, but will pay off when I receive my paycheck =). I am excited for the orders to arrive!

II have to cut back on haypi. My goal to reach level 20 will take much longer than I thought. It would be really cool to someday meet these amazing people I have spent months to a year playing with. To meet the faces behind the names.. that would be interesting.

=)

I received notification that I am officially an intern/assistant of the floral industry!!! =) I shall not name the company, but I will say this: this is really a great opportunity for me! The designer is so talented! She basically makes dreams and fantasies come to life with flowers!

Now I shall wait for the call from hair industry next month. Lets hope things work out because I want to do everything! Growing up, I kept hearing people doing what they love. I believe that I am now one them. Then again, I am just getting started and may just be in the honeymoon phase.

When I make the money, I shall treat my parents to a fun vacation!

Happy Valentine's day!

I feel so lucky in life lately! Things are coming together and there is so much hope for a good and happy future. Firstly, my two interviews for both the floral industry and hair industry seems to be positive. The only problem would be catering to their schedules, which would take up all my days. I am currently going to school too, so there is very little time as it is. The floral designer I want to intern for is so amazingly talented! I love her style and would love to learn from her. I will help her with some arrangements next Wednesday for a wedding and I really really REALLY hope that I satisfy her! >_< I am nervous, but very excited to start! If things goes well, she will take me under her wing. Wish me luck! As for my hair interview, I went there twice. The first time was to get to know me and what I could offer the salon. That went fine. I feel comfortable in that atmosphere and really like that they have order in the place. I thrive in that kind of environment. My second interview was to demonstrate my skills as a hairstylist. The manager was very impressed with me and told me she will call me next month when their big sale is over so that she will have time to train me. I am excited!!! I love my career choices! I love being creative and spreading beauty around me. Its both fun and for-filling.

Tiramisu
While at school today, I received a call from mom that Lo came by with gifts! He and I are both quite busy and he has a crazy school schedule that takes up all his time. So, I did not expect anything today. BOY! =) I came home to a cup of Purple Kow milk tea, pad thai dinner, flowers and CAKE!!!!! LALALAAA LOVE HIM! I can only imagine his insane trip to get all these items. Mind you, the stores/restaurants are not close to each other. He is still in school as I type this post. Poor guy! He is my first boyfriend and my last. Why bother looking for another when I hit the jackpot on the first try? Lucky me! When I start working, I will be his sugar mama! Can't wait to have a healthy cash flow again so we can go out and have fun!! I miss work. I used to work so much!

before
Like the arrangement? He bought me a hand-tied bouquet. I took it apart and arranged them like so: into a heart shape! ^__^ Skills baby!

Newly Licensed!

Hi all!!! I PASSED!!! I am a licensed Cosmetologist now! WOOHOO!!! =)

Time for much needed sleep! I wasn't able to sleep much  yesterday night because of early morning school the next day. It feels like more doors are opening already.

count down.. pass or fail?

oh my gosh.. test date is tomorrow!!!! I am soooo nervous and trying to organize all the information of the practical and written exams. I really hope that I pass!!!!! My preparation to sleep early took two days of work. I would sleep around 3-4am in the morning and wake up around 7-9am to ensure that I would collapse when I hit the bed. To further ensure my exhaustion, I have been to the gym to drain more energy. I am a walking zombie now. All this effort so that I will be completely well rested for my exam because if not, I may not sleep at all due to anxiety.

hope that I pass!!!! GO GO GO!

its superbowl sunday; i wonder who will win.

Andre in Wonderland

Andre all freaky =). Definitely not his best picture. I should add that I did not change anything about it either. He was all ready for his walk on a rainy day.

Saturday, January 28, 2012

I love Glee! Most times I just play the shows in the background just to listen to their music. Their newest episode: yes/no had really good songs in there. The cast of Glee are amazingly talented! This song has been stuck in my head since watching the episode. I prefer their version than David Guetta's. I find that it has more passion and depth.

AND I have my test date! February 6! Finally! Lots of studying and practicing to do. Read the entire book so I feel more confident. Now, to tackle the practical part of it! I have only one week and I really hope I pass!

I haven't seen Lo in three days and he came by just to give me milk tea and left. Feel so loved! ^__^ My favorite drink in the world is milk tea with tapioca! Yum Yum!

This one here is from Wonderful Food Co: green milk tea tapioca
my favorite used to be from Icafe, but they closed. My new place to go is Purple Kow! They make milk tea the way I like it. CHEERS!

DavidSoComedy- Asian Sterotype

Lo just introduced me to this youtuber and really, THIS GUY... cracks me up! His Asian Stereotypes Vlog was like my life growing up. My aunt is totally the one who would say there's a hole on a jacket at Macy's just for the discount; she has that accent too! No one messes with my mom. Her mouth spits fire. I get scared going to restaurants with her because she is very critical and voices it out. I fear they spit in our food... or worse >__<;

His 7 vs. 1 Asian video. I haven't watched the clip of the actual beating because I don't handle violence well, but, I find his words true at the end. Such bs, those seven kids.

The wonderful 90's underground and Far East Movement: Fighting for Air

Far East Movement- Fighting for Air

I love this song of theirs. Far East Movement has been in the industry for a long time. Mad props for still going and working so hard. I recall Jin the Emcee was the first Asian to get a record deal with a mainstream music label. He didn't make it big, but it was a fleet worth mentioning. I was stroked that Jin had a part as Jimmy the machanic in Too Fast Too Furious. There was a point back during my silly "Azn Pryde" days, that I wanted to name my future kid Jin. Hah. I was such an angry kid back then though.

There are other Asian singers who never made it big, but deserved to. They came out during the wrong time. Kai and Asian Dreamers were really good. My cousin was the one who introduced me to them way back when I was in elementary school. They sand mostly r&b love songs that I still love to this day. I believe they came from the Bay Area. I used to also love Pinya's Always on my mind.

Since I am the road of music's past, my generation used to sport CD players and download music. Napster used to be cool and when mp3s came out, that was the rage! I was in the generation of transition: pagers (learning pager codes was a must) to those big Nokia phones. I still have my first phone and its pretty heavy compared to my present, iphone.

Gameboy color was the most amazing thing and Pokemon blue and red was the best game out. I recall kush balls, tamagochis and baby nanos seen all over the playground. Who were the Wiggles? It was all about the Teletubbies because Po was cute. The Elmo doll was insanely popular and so expensive. It didn't help that Rosie from the Rosie show kept talking about it as the best gift ever.  along with Kirby. Remember Kirby?? I had two of them and thought I was the luckiest girl in the world. Now that I think about it, it looked weird. Its basically a mix between a talking parrot toy and a rodent.

Remember the Kid's tv shows: Banana in Pajamas, Annie in the Big Comfy Couch, Doug Funny, Recess, Sailor Moon (my favorite), Pepperann, Weekenders, and Auther? I used to watch every episode of Power Rangers: Mighty Morphin with the orginal rangers. Heck I named my fishes after the Pink, Green and Blue one. My favorite was the green ranger, before he turned evil and became the white one.

Good old days, to be young again!

back to school

GOSH!
Waiting for my cosmetology test date since August.. seems like FOREVER! So, I have decided to complete the courses to obtain a floral arranging certificate. I start next Tuesday! Excited! Will start at 9am and end at 10pm, two days a week. I hope that I will have time to play haypi inbetween. x__x playing again! BAHAHA

I could open a flower shop in the future! Working with flowers is so relaxing.

-------------------------

There have been more dry bars opening up. I think its a great idea. To those who do not know what dry bars are: they are salons catering only to hair styling. No hair cutting nor dying is done. If I were a client, I would be more satisfied because there will be instant change, or at least, I expect instant change. Come in with everyday hair, coming out with a great blowout of waves. I am willing to bet that dry bars would be busy for valentines day when the girls want to looks their best.

Happy New Year!

I am hungryyy! I think my metabolism might have gotten faster because I feel more energized and am constantly hungry.
