For Mother's Day, Lo and I took my parents out to eat at Quan Bac. It is supposed to be a Vietnamese restaurant but the servers there did not understand any Vietnamese when we read our orders from the menu =). The exterior of the resturant looked very ugly but inside was better. There's a big fish tank filled with cool looking fish. I found the food there a hit or miss. This chicken salad (goi ga) on the left was a hit!
Their bun cha ha noi was pretty good. It wasn't the best, but it was fresh and beats most other places in San Francisco.
Their grilled chicken was yummy!
Their bo xao xa ot (beef with lemongrass + onions) was not great but it wasn't bad either.
The canh chua tom (sour soup with shrimps) was good on Mother's Day. I been to this restaurant four times and 3/4 visits, this soup tasted watery and bland. Of course, my mom's homemade version is always best.
Com chien Ha Noi cannot compare to Kingdom of Dumpling's fried rice, but it was okay. Lo likes fried rice so we ordered that for him. He was paying after all. =)
Desert! Fried bananas and vanilla ice cream! =) We were so full! We ordered a dinner set for three people and added the fried rice and bun ca ha noi for more food. It was more than enough! Total was less than $50 for four people. Not too shabby for a Mother's day dinner. The place was packed!
In fact, it was sooooooo full that they ran out of dishes and gave us paper plates and plastic forks to eat the fried bananas with. I found that hilarious! The restaurant was huge too! There were many families waiting outside for seating during and after our dinner. We got there early and didn't have to wait so long for a table. =)
Overall, I recommend coming here for a decent and cheap meal.
