Hair splinters vs. Tweezerman

I think the worse part of the hair industry is: getting hair splinters!!!! They hurt and they are so tiny that its hard to get them out without pushing them deeper into my skin. This happens whenever I cut men's hairs (thick and course). So far, the most strangest place for hair splinter was on my nose! Lucky me, I bought Tweezerman's pointed tweezer to pull those suckers out.

Tweezerman brand is great because they offer a life-time guarantee of quality! =) So if my tweezers become dull at some point, I will send it to them for sharpening =) YAY!

Pirates of the Caribbean 4

Lo and I went to watch Pirates of the Caribbean 4 today and it was okay. I enjoyed it, but the missing characters of Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner was a let down. I still wonder why this series of Pirates did not include them. In IMDb, it says the movie went back to the basics and had a lower budget. Its previous series were getting much to big and the stories were getting too complicated. Oren Aviv of Disney said, "I  want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters." Then again, the main characters were Sparrow, Swann and Turner so how was this movie really about their essence? I really like the character Captain Jack Sparrow, but to revolve the entire movie around him and adding new characters with love interests did not suit me. I liked it, but I would prefer otherwise.

Overall, I say go see it. Its interesting and pretty neat. The actress who played Angelica was pregnant while shooting the movie. There is a clip at the end of credits that Lo and I did not know of and left the theaters before seeing. Alas!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAYLIANNA!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAYLIANNA!!!!!

She's really cute in person as she is in this picture! I recall her extreme mesmerization of this water bottle dispenser! She went up the the machine and pressed the button for the paying customer, totally oblivious to her surroundings. No siree, she isn't shy at all!

Lo and I took Durango to her birthday so he could make new friends. There were lots of kids and all around his age. I gave him chow mien and this other noodle and some broccoli to eat. I was super careful to watch out for any signs of eggs or wheat (he's allergic to them)! After quickly consuming the contents on his plate, he played and made friends. Lo and I watched from a distance. He was fine until around 2pm. I saw him crunched down and that was so unlike him. I hurried to him and saw him sweaty and wheezing. Lo watched over him at Kristine's house while I ran to find any store that sold Benadryl. When I came back, he was alot worse! It was horrible! He took the medicine and slowly started to breathe normally. He then started crying and complaining of extreme itchiness. OMGG!!! I felt so bad! I never wanted to be the one to harm him in any way and I did! I was the one to bring him to a party, fed him food that got him ill. I also felt so guilty and so bad for ruining Jaylianna's party! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! Lo and I took him home where he slept. Poor guy! =( I don't think his parents will ever trust me again. His dad told me after I told him of the events, that chow mien noodles are made with eggs...
Picture of Durango before the allergic attack. Kristine's photo skills are pretty cool! She caught him hitting the ball! Ball is still in the air and the batting stand flying in the air, after being knocked over!

Recommendation: Ouran High School Host Club

I just started watching this anime series: Ouran High School Host Club!!! It is sooo CUTE! It actually got me to crack up! I watched this while I was at school and I had to cover my mouth and try to suppress fits of laughter to avoid looking like a lunatic who laughed by herself! +___+

Netflix only has season one!! WAHH There are two seasons to it! The series is about wealthy good looking high school boys who are in this host club. This girl accidentally came in and broke a very expensive vase and has to work for them to pay off the debt. She isn't wealthy like they are. They eventually fall for her but don't realize that they do. The series is really innocent and sweet. =) The characters are really cute! I am thinking about buying the complete series since I can't finish it on Netflix or Hulu. =(

Colors of the rain

Walked my baby after school today after the pouring stopped. Thanks Kristine for picking me up and driving me home to avoid the heavy showers! =)

I love the colors of nature during light sprinkles of rain, as what happened during our walk. Mind you, I took these photos with my phone so no justice was done for these roses. The yellow popped out and made my mood cheery.
I don't know what is the name for this flower, but I really like it. In person, this flower looks unique and pretty. It is not spikey..
I adore the colors of foxgloves. They are in season I suppose since I see many around the city. That is Andre in the background waiting for me to finish taking the picture. =)
I totally forgotten the name of this!!! There is another version of this as well and both are one of my favorites.
The look and colors of these succulents are awesome! I love succulents! There are many variations as well and all are really interesting to look at. They tend to grow in masses and are very easy to grow. They require little effort on the gardener's part.
New Zealand Tea Tree have vibrant flowers when bloomed. Otherwise, they look dead to me. I have seen a really awesome tree with full blooming flowers! Alas, it is not in my doggy walking path.
The wind was blowing, but this was how bold the color of the New Zealand tea tree was.

Death Note

I'm watching Death Note, the anime show that was based on the manga. Its pretty good, this show. Though, I do not agree with Kira. His intentions may have been good at the beginning, but he turned bad soon after. Killing is still killing no matter how justly. AND! He killed innocent people to cover his ass. Who is he to judge people's actions and decide who should die and who should live. I am only on the 6th episode! Netflix has it for instant viewing people! ^___^

Did you know that DeathNote is banned in China? I am not certain, but I read this information from Wikipedia (it is not a credible source. Still, thats something isn't it?)

Fast Five

Watched Fast Five with Lo today! We both enjoyed it alot! There is a special sneak peek ending in the middle of the credits so I suggest to wait it out. There was alot of public destruction that I was not so happy about... because I really admire architecture/real estate and comon! Wasted! >__< anyway, good movie! I can't wait for the next one coming up! The fact that they brought in previous characters from their past movies was really good to me. My favorite of their series was the third one, Too Fast Too Furious. Tyrese was my favorite and he was in this movie too! Hooray!

Resturant: Quan Bac

Quan Bac
4112 Geary Blvd
San Francisco, CA 94118

For Mother's Day, Lo and I took my parents out to eat at Quan Bac. It is supposed to be a Vietnamese restaurant but the servers there did not understand any Vietnamese when we read our orders from the menu =). The exterior of the resturant looked very ugly but inside was better. There's a big fish tank filled with cool looking fish. I found the food there a hit or miss. This chicken salad (goi ga) on the left was a hit!

Their bun cha ha noi was pretty good. It wasn't the best, but it was fresh and beats most other places in San Francisco.

Their grilled chicken was yummy!

Their bo xao xa ot (beef with lemongrass + onions) was not great but it wasn't bad either.

The canh chua tom (sour soup with shrimps) was good on Mother's Day. I been to this restaurant four times and 3/4 visits, this soup tasted watery and bland. Of course, my mom's homemade version is always best.

Com chien Ha Noi cannot compare to Kingdom of Dumpling's fried rice, but it was okay. Lo likes fried rice so we ordered that for him. He was paying after all. =)

Desert! Fried bananas and vanilla ice cream! =) We were so full! We ordered a dinner set for three people and added the fried rice and bun ca ha noi for more food. It was more than enough! Total was less than $50 for four people. Not too shabby for a Mother's day dinner. The place was packed!

In fact, it was sooooooo full that they ran out of dishes and gave us paper plates and plastic forks to eat the fried bananas with. I found that hilarious! The restaurant was huge too! There were many families waiting outside for seating during and after our dinner. We got there early and didn't have to wait so long for a table. =)

Overall, I recommend coming here for a decent and cheap meal.

Hearts Crabtree and Evelyn!!

I absolutely ADORE Crabtree and Evelyn products!!!! Their hand therapy lotion makes my hands so soft and it smells heavenly. I got the Summerhill scent! I can't wait to go back there for more stuff and this time, it will be for me! The picture on the left was a gift for my mom for mother's day. Its a small box and the colors looks like Christmas huh. >__<

Inside the box; the very nice sales lady put samples of hand creams and purfumes inside as bonus. I am not a fan of Citron, but La Source isn't so bad.
The three bar soaps! They smell really good! Their packaging looks very pretty huh! ^___^
The samples! I hope they make Iris scented hand lotions soon!

This bag was big and was for Lo's mother. =) I didn't have a chance to properly take photos of the items we bought for his mom. Oh well!
The inside of the bag was so pretty! I love it! What a nice suprise to see bright colorful fruits and things inside of a plain exterior.
We got her Iris scented soap, baggy samples (body and hand lotion, shower gel, shower wash, and perfume), and a larger sized body lotion. =) The bag was filled with small samples like my mom's too!

Dreams of future salon

After a few years of learning and crafting my hair cutting and hair coloring skills, I would love to own my own salon. A name has already been picked out! I intend to have six stations, three back shampoo bowls, three hair dryers+chairs, two manicure tables, and maybe a facial/waxing bed. I do not want to do pedicures because feet seems dirty to me. However, if there is any request for it, I will oblige, but I will not get those big pedicure chairs. Five of the six hair stations will be open for renting or for hiring spots. I hope to have experience and most of all, fun, friendly and loyal stylists.

The look I want for my future salon is something I am not sure of. I want it to look clean and gender neutral because I do not want only women or only men. I want all types of hairs coming in for service.

The picture on the left is very close to what I like. I do want another color in that picture and that is green. I want a nice pastel green to bring in an earthy feel.

There will be floral arrangements in my salon for sure! I will do the arranging as my side hobby. =) That would be great. Clients will be offered drinks like bottled water, juice, coffee, tea or if I feel like it, smoothies! I can make tasty smoothies after working at Lee's Sandwiches for three years. =) The drinks will vary according to the weather, my mood and to what I have in stock. I think its nice to get on a personal level with clients because it builds trust, comfort and a place where they feel welcomed and above all, beautiful/handsome. That is what I try to do whenever I service in school. My clients come back to me lots! They remember my name, but I don't remember theirs.+__+ bad me! There are just so many people that names are harder to remember for me. I remember their faces though!

Where will the location be? Why in San Francisco of course! I love my city! I do think about moving elsewhere, but when it comes down to it, I don't think I would. Lo's and my family resides in San Francisco. I do not want to part from the people who are my foundation. But, I fancy living in Hawaii if my family would follow. =)

I am super sleepy so today I shall sleep early. Good night!

Always,
-Alisa

Popular baby names year 2010

In a recent SFgate article, it says the most popular name of late for girls is Isabella and for boys, Jacob! Seriously funny right???!!!!  Why is this so funny to me? Its because those names are from the book series turned movie series, Twilight! Like, O-M-G! I am surprised Edward isn't topping the charts since it is the leading male character's name. Another popular name for boys is Aiden. The popularity of the name was boosted because of Sex and the City.

Santa Cruz FUN!!!!

Beyonce's Sweet Dreams. I really like the slow version of this song. It sounds more sensual and has more depth than when its fast. She's a very beautiful woman, Beyonce. Her hair must be very course from all the bleaching it endures! Unless, her hair is really a weave than her head must weigh alot! My instructor's weave weighs 20lbs and its only shoulder length!
 -------------------------------

Santa Cruz was super crowded today! Lo and I only stayed at the beach area. I am burned again! But, it was totally worth it =). We went into the waters and it was freezing cold! It took a while to get over the numbing cold (it hurted)! The waves were pretty strong that Lo and I were separated three times and I was knocked down many times. Fun stuff! This was our first time in the water together. The sun was great and warmed us up quickly. My hair looked very nice and had alot of volume after it dried. It must have been the salt in the water. If it wasn't for the sand in my hair, I wouldn't bother washing my hair when I got home because it looked that good =).

After beach fun, we went to the food booth on the Boardwalk. We ordered a small Mountain Dew because we were both parched, this fried cheesecake (tasted awful!), garlic fries (pretty good) and softee ice cream. I like dipping my fries into ice cream, it tastes good to me. Try it one day!

Lo and I got lost on our way to Gilroy Outlet mall. =( Gps ran out of batteries and his phone's 3g connection was horrible! It took us almost two hours to get to our destination. I was grumpy until we stopped into Crabtree and Evelyn for the first time! I LOVE THAT SHOP!!!!! We got his mother Iris scent stuff: soap, lotion, and this bag with bits of every Iris sample. I prefer their Iris, Wisteria, Lilies and Summer Hill scents because they are a bit sweet and subtle. I don't like overpowering smells, mostly because they give me hives. I got my mom three of the four scents I mentioned of soaps. Their boxes are so pretty too! The hand lotion I bought is really rich but light when applied. Love it! I want to go back!!!!! The store clerk was super nice and took alot of time to gift wrap and gave us tons of sample packets! I am a freebie junkie!!! So, Lo and I gave her a $5 tip because she was so sweet! <3

Going to San Jose was a piece of cake because we traveled there so many times before. I think that Bun Hue An Nam lost its flavor. The food seems less in quality since our first visit a few years ago. Every visit since has not lived to expectations. I think it is because they have to make so much in so little time that their broth gets more watered down to meet their demand. The best part of An Nam is their cha! So, Lo and I bought ten of the rolls for home (four for my home, three for his and three for Kristine). Mom likes to freeze them up and save them until she needs it for a meal. =)

Today is Mother's Day! So, Happy Mother's Day!!!!!

Always,
-Alisa

Scrapbook

Mother's Day is coming up and I haven't planned anything this year for my mom! Horrible daughter I am! All I can think about is tomorrow's trip to Santa Cruz with my Lo!!!! Three years baby! I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Its more of a beach filled fun than playing in the Boardwalk. We will then head to the Gilroy Mall so that I can get hand creams from Crabtree and Evelyn. I was told their brand was good. My hands dries up because of all the shampooing for clients. My poor nails chip all the time too! Oh, that reminds me! This new nail student is so crazily good at nail designs! I want her to do my nails but she's always so busy working on other people! Anyway, after the mall, Lo and I will go to San Jose for Bun Bo Hue An Nam! YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!!! There, we will get Vietnamese foods for his family and mine. I will also get some for Kristine too because she has been so nice to me and I want to introduce her to Vietnamese foods! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I gave Lo the scrapbook I made! He knew all along but was just faking ignorance! Of course he knew! It didn't help the cause when I had to stock up on more stickers and paper. It really didn't help when Quynh and I were chatting away about it while he was with us. He was our driver to Michael's. I like Michael's when they have the discounts for scrapbook supplies! He got me this awesome puzzle with our picture on it! It also comes with a tin box with the same picture! I love it! This year's gifts were about memories. =)
This was just the first of two sets of stickers! I all of the stickers you see here. The second set had Las Vegas and airplane themes for future vacations that can't be used yet.

Cover: Before
Hand-drawn envelope card
Cover: After

This was Jonathan's birthday. I think it was back in 2008. The clam with black bean sauce was so good that Lo and I ate all of it without realizing it! We were so rude!
My birthday with Anita and her ex. We went to my workplace, Santa's Lane to get our pictures taken with co-worker. Great

At the San Francisco Nut Cracker for the first time!
With Meuy and Seng at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. It was a blast! Thank you Meuy for making it possible!
Still at Six Flags! My first time sleighing down snow! Granted it was man-made snow and very little of it, but it was really fun.
Riding a real elephant! It was romantic ^__^
With Quynh and Alex at Great America! 2009! They married before us!!!! GRRRR!!!! kidding! I am very VERY VERYY HAPPY FOR THEM! I still would love to go to their wedding celebration in Vietnam next month...
Because Lo and I really enjoy playing deuces and I love cards in general, I just had to put that in. I got all deuces!!! WOOT!

The transformations of Lo
Makeup, camera, ACTION!

TADA! I have more pages but that's enough to share. =) The scrapbook was so big and the covers open awkwardly so I used my trusty hot glue gun to glue the green satin ribbon on. I wanted to give the book a pop of color and I wanted the book to be tied up when not being viewed.

Movie: The Stoning of Soraya M

The Stoning of Soraya M The Stoning of Soraya M

I want to watch this movie, but I am too afraid to. Not only this movie ends with the death of a mother of four, but this is a true event! It was in 1986. Her husband wanted to remarry another woman so in order to get rid of his current wife, Soraya Manutchehri, he spun a tale of her infidelity. Horrible! Women were and still to this day (in many places in the world), are property of men and have no value. HORRIBLE! She was stoned to death as punishment. I am not sure if she did have an affair or if it was a lie, nonetheless, she did not deserve to die. Well, the ratings for this movie are high so I recommend watching a part of history. We learn from the past's mistakes and ignorance to make a better now and tomorrow. We should also continue the goods of the past and if possible, improve it.

Movie Recommendation: Beyond Borders

Beyond Borders (Widescreen Edition)Beyond Borders (2003)

Starring Angelina Jolie, this movie was really emotional. The authenticity was amazing and disturbing. This movie brought me back to Earth, to its basics of humanity and life. Not everyone is so fortunate as we are; others live in the most horrible conditions and no one deserves that. The movie starts slowly to introduce its characters and build a background. It is well worth the wait when Angelina Jolie's character sets off into her journey so be patient!

I am a GLEEK!

Omgosh! I really really love the songs they sing from the show Glee! Thank you Netflix for having the season one for me to catch up on! My favorite of theirs (for now) are: Don't Stop Believing (Journey) and Like a Prayer (Madonna).

I AM BACK!!!!

X___X been ages! THANK YOU LO FOR FIXING MY COMPUTER!!!

How have you been? Lots happened in between for me. Good life. =)
I did the Easter Egg hunt! It was a bit stressful and sad the day before. Family should not make another family cry. However, that wasn't the case. So that family will not be valued as much as before. The kids had fun though. Next year, I will extend the fun for my friends and their kids!!!! I can't wait! I have so many things planned out! There will be pinatas; some will be filled with candies, toys and others, shaving cream!!! FUN FUN FUN! I hope to have other activities such as egg dyes and egg-on-spoon races. Maybe I will include a water gun/water balloon fight for kicks. Of course, the food will be potluck because I can't provide that much food for so many people alone. I can't wait! Easter hurry and come back! =)))
This year's water balloon fight! Lo did all the work for this. They look like clear avocados. There were 36 balloons for each team. My mom wanted to join in the fun so Lo and I made her go to the kid's side. We aimed at her mostly because it wouldn't be fair to hit little kids. ^__^
Amber was not able to go so Durango's friend came instead. That was what inspired me to allow other kids to come for next year. I didn't want the little ones to get sick because of the game so I had to wear rain coats and boots. They had alot of fun and wanted to play more. However, we ran out of balloons!

Lo, mom and I went biking with Kristine and her family on Sunday. It was really fun and super tiring! All three of our butts still hurt! I haven't biked since elementary school and mom hadn't in 23+ years! My skirt ended up ripping and I ran into two cars and almost hit a jogger! Ah me! Kristine is totally awesome! She had tons of bikes, enough to own a bike shop! Her kids(3) were amazing. They lasted better than me! They are all 7 years old and younger. We biked from Geary, 23rd ave to Golden Gate park and all the way to Ocean beach and back again. It was such a beautiful day too. =) I want to do this again!

For the past few weeks, the song Don't Stop Believing by Journey has been suck in my head. I like Glee's version too! I really like Glee's version of Madonna's Like a Prayer.
