At the dog park

After we finally watched the movie Salt, starring Angelina Jolie, we went to eat at Sai Jai Thai [YUM]. The movie was not bad, but it was not great. I admire the action parts since Ms. Jolie did most of the stunts herself. However, I was not able to stomach most of it. I am very weak at heart but wanted to watch it anyway because it is pg13. R rated violence is too much for me to handle.

Enough about the movie, what concerns me most is my Andre's behavior. Lo and I took him to the dog park again. This park allows him to be off leash. I love going there because of all the beautiful dogs and the park's surroundings. Its great there. Usually, my baby Andre would run around and do his 1's and 2's energetically. There are bags provided so that is such a bonus. Andre is a shy dog and lately he has been getting better at being  around other dogs. He now goes out to greet other dogs but he also runs away soon after. That is a huge leap for him. He usually runs back to hide under my bench seat and then comes out to do the same thing. When there groups of dogs around him, he would tuck his tail and run to me.

Today was a different day for him. Lo and I set him free to run around. He was so happy with his tail wagging, tongue out and bouncing to and fro. Then a very fluffy and sweet husky came along to greet my baby. The husky was very playful and I suppose that scared my baby. I have no idea what triggered him but Andre then started to bark and his teeth bared. I hurriedly carried my dog away from the husky. Lo and I walked a safe distance away and let Andre down. After a while, we came to a small clearing where other dog walkers like to sit and let their dogs play freely. Andre was sweet and shy when greeting other dogs. That is, until that very same husky came over and Andre became angry and so vicious. It was so embarrassing. My little dog was causing a big scene in a usually peaceful and playful atmosphere. Lo and I were afraid of him actually harming other dogs. When the husky went off again, I let Andre go. He was fine and normal until the husky came again. All that husky wanted was to play but my dog was so scary. It looked as if my Andre wanted to kill. Never had that happened before.Of course, after the owner of the husky left with his group of dogs, Andre became his usual happy self. The owner called my dog a bully and it pains me because that is not true. It is only toward that dog that I have seen this happen. We have encountered many other dogs of all breeds before and Andre was always sweet and shy around them. If I was the owner of that husky, I would have been angry that some dog tried to bite my baby so I can see his point of view.

I wish that I could understand what Andre was thinking and feeling to become so aggressive. I love my dog so much and I want to be able to help him. It scares me that he could injure others with this surprising outburst of attack mode. Of course I fear other dogs hurting him more because he is so small compared to others.

There will be pictures of my little baby in later posts! I promise! He is super duper cute! =)

2010 Summer's To Do List

Summer break is coming to an end in less than a month. Which means there will be less together time with Lo when I start beauty school. 8 to 5, 5 days a week. Of course he will go to his classes too and I do hope he gets into the ones he needs. College courses are getting harder and harder to get into these days due to budget cuts and the growing number of students.

Having that in mind, I want to concoct a list of what I would like to do. Some on my own and some with Lo. My list includes things that I have been wanting to do for the longest time but haven't had a chance to do yet. I doubt that most will be fulfilled due to the lack of money. However, there will be time in the future for me to carry out my wishes.

1. Cheesecake Factory-I have been wanting to go there for a while now but fights made the desire go away. And a fight occurred today as well. If this keeps up, I may as well invite a friend to come with me instead.
2. Go to Borders to find more books to read! Just finished another book called Crazy School. I will dedicate a blog post for that book later. It is recommended! =)
3. SFMOMA!!!!! I went there years ago with Flor and it is still a very fond memory of mine. Had a blast though I doubt she remembers this.
4. Conservatory of Flowers!!! Hmmm I may go there myself since this is solely my interest. I will bring a camera to take pictures and post them up! =)
5. Academy of Science! I really really want to go there! I mean really? A San Franciscan and I haven't been there while people from other areas make efforts to.
6. Walk to Pier 39 from my home to eat In and Out burger. Burger animal style! yummm
7. Send Meuy's birthday gift!!! That will be done tomorrow since her birthday was last month and waiting to see her is taking way too long.
8. Eat at Lers Ros Thai again. I am craving for curry over rice and minced chicken with basil. Their lunch menu special allows two choices of what they have listed with rice. It is a deal!
9. Finish watching my Friends dvd set again. The show never gets old. The characters mesh well together.
10. Read Nobody's Boy by Merlot.
11. Find out who this summer's Bachlorette will chose as her husband. Next week!
12. Great America or Six Flags? Both sounds like so much fun but right now, I am not in a happy and risky mood. Maybe next summer.
13. Hell's Kitchen winner is who? I want to know
14. Watch Wicked the broadway musical!!!! The musical is going to leave San Francisco soon. Oh well.. I will wait it out and see it when it comes back. Hopefully by then I can afford the best seats!
15. Ride the cable car from Pier39 to Downtown. After that, it would be nice to go shopping during the back to school sales.

I wished that I was smart enough to find a job earlier this summer! When both people in a relationship do not work, it is very annoying because going to fun places requires money. That is something Lo and I disagree on. Now it is too late because I will be starting school soon. Or is it?

On a side note, my shoulder is aching so much from yesterday's trip to Chinatown to buy groceries. The bruise is proof of my labor. I carried two bags, one on both shoulders and three more bags with my hands. Too much and too heavy!

Audrey Hepburn- Moon River

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Breakfast At Tiffany's - Paramount Centennial Collection (Mastered in High Definition) After watching Breakfast at Tiffany's for the first time today, I am in awe with Audrey Hepburn. She managed to bring in class and innocence into a role that suggested otherwise. The most memorable part of the movie was of her singing Moon River. The song is still in my head. I loved how graceful and soft her voice was while singing.

"Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
Wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waiting 'round the bend,
My huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me."

What peeved me was the projection of Japanese people or Asians for that matter. The movie received a lot of criticism for that, I am sure! However, it was during the time when these things happen a lot: Asian roles played by non Asian actors. The most recent one I can think of is The Last Airbender and thankfully, it does not happen as much now.

I liked the scenes with the cat. It was cute and gave the movie a more homey feeling.

Book Recommendation

The Blind Contessa's New Machine by Carey Wallace

Yes folks, I just just finished reading it. What drew me to this book was the cover. I took floral arranging classes before and since then, I am attracted to flowers and plants. Of course, I always read the brief description of any book I pick up to decide if it is worth the purchase. Anyway, this book was very engaging. As I read, each page was dreaded. No, this is not a bad book; by dread, I mean that I was sad to have the story come closer and closer to its end. Though I must admit, the ending felt very interrupted. I did not feel closure upon finishing, however the ending may be true if this were to take place in real life.

Carolina Fantoni was young and extremely beautiful. She managed to hook the most desired suitor. Her life from then on was looking very bright but through her eyes, it was not so. Carolina was going blind. As the reader, we go on the sad journey of seeing less and less. A romance spark between she and her childhood friend. It was he who took her seriously when her parents and fiance did not. He was known as the town's good for nothing inventor. Good for nothing? That may be. However, he invented the first typewriter as a gift for Carolina. Now I will mention: this book is based on a true story. (score!)

I bought mine at Borders for $23.95 and should have bought it at Amazon! Gosh! So I prepared a direct link for those of you who are interested in reading this book. This book is only 204 pages long so it is a very short read. It just came out as I was told by the cashier.

My dog is named Andre. He is two years old and is a dachshund and chihuahua mix. He is a chubby little mutt and I love every bit of him. Lo (my love) and I took him to a dog park today. I really want my mutt to be more socialize as he is extremely shy. There are so many dogs there for him to get acquainted with. My baby showed drastic change today. He finally went up to other dogs with his tail wagging! Lo and I were very pleased though he did not play with the dogs. Anyway, this incident stood out the most:

This beautiful golden retriever came to me while my baby was away and licked me. I petted it (gender unknown). The retriever came again the second time while my baby was away and did the same thing. Such a friendly thing it was. I would have taken it home if I could! It came by the third time and this time, my baby was there under my seat. The retriever licked me while I greeted and pet it. All of a sudden, my sweet baby turned into a monster. He was growling and was going to bite if I had not pulled him back with my super speed reflex. The retriever was such a sweet heart; it did not attack but backed away in a calm manner.

I am still baffled my baby's jealously. I have to admit, I am glad he feels at least something for me because I question his loyalty. My Andre is such a spoiled loony. In 5 years times, I would like to bring home a companion for him. By then he should be more open. I hope.
